  • Swing Dance

    Patti Arrison

    language (, Jan. 9, 2017)
Alex has won a scholarship to a bigger, more competitive figure skating club. His new coach is pushing him hard, and he's excited to take on new challenges—especially the opportunity to compete in ice dance with Lacey as his partner. But not all of the challenges are positive. Alex has to help with the Learn to Skate classes for little kids, including Teagan, who is cute and funny but oddly vulnerable—and definitely not a good skater! And then there is the famous coach Chip Chisholm, whose eagerness to help Alex and his LTS students may hide more sinister interests. In the meantime, Alex discovers that moving on to a new club doesn't mean that he's left his old problems behind. He and his mom are slowly recovering after the death of his dad, but school life is just as tough as it always was. He and his best friend Topher, now advocating for the LGBT community, are prime targets for a secretive group that’s out to get anyone who is even a little bit different from the average high school student. Alex’s old friends from hockey can’t be bothered, and even Lacey, usually so quick to notice when anybody needs help, is distracted by her parents’ impending divorce. Then there’s the problem of Chelsay Sandri. Even though she’s new to the school, Chelsay seems to be at the center of the vortex. Alex can feel the force of the gale-force winds whirling around him—how can he keep himself from being blown away?
